Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly to us, including:
- Account Information: Name, email address, and password when you create an account
- Golf Profile: Handicap, club yardages, playing preferences, and goals you set during onboarding
- Voice Data: Audio recordings of your conversations with the AI caddy (processed in real-time and not stored permanently)
- Usage Data: Session history, practice patterns, and app interaction data
- Payment Information: Subscription and purchase data processed through Apple App Store
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide personalized golf coaching and recommendations
- Process your voice commands and provide real-time AI responses
- Track your progress and provide analytics
- Process transactions and manage your subscription
- Send you updates and promotional communications (with your consent)
- Improve our services and develop new features
Third-Party AI Data Processing (OpenAI)
VoiceCaddy uses artificial intelligence to power its core coaching features. To deliver these AI-powered experiences, certain user data is sent to OpenAI, L.L.C. (openai.com), a third-party AI service provider. Below we describe what data is shared, why, and how it is handled.
What Data Is Sent to OpenAI
When you use AI-powered features in VoiceCaddy, the following categories of data may be transmitted to OpenAI's servers for processing:
- Voice & Audio Data: Real-time audio recordings of your voice conversations with the AI caddy, sent via OpenAI's Realtime API for speech-to-text transcription and generating spoken coaching responses.
- Golf Profile Data: Your handicap, club yardages, playing preferences, and goals — used to personalize AI coaching recommendations.
- Conversation Context: Text-based prompts, questions, and session context you provide when interacting with the AI coach.
- Session & Performance Data: Practice session history or round details shared during a coaching conversation to generate tailored advice.
We do not send your email address, password, payment information, or device identifiers to OpenAI.
Why Data Is Sent to OpenAI
Data is transmitted to OpenAI solely for the purposes of:
- Processing your voice input and generating real-time spoken coaching responses
- Generating personalised golf coaching recommendations and practice plans
- Answering your questions about golf strategy, rules, and technique
How OpenAI Handles Your Data
- Data is transmitted using industry-standard TLS encryption in transit.
- OpenAI processes data in real-time and does not permanently store your voice recordings or conversation content after processing is complete.
- Under our API agreement, OpenAI does not use your data to train or improve its AI models.
- OpenAI's data handling practices are governed by their API Data Usage Policy and Privacy Policy.
Your Consent & Control
Before any of your data is sent to OpenAI, VoiceCaddy asks for your explicit, opt-in consent. During onboarding, you will be presented with a clear consent screen that explains what data is shared and with whom. AI-powered features are not activated unless you grant this consent.
You may manage your AI data consent at any time:
- Granting Consent: You can grant consent during onboarding or later from the app's Settings screen.
- Revoking Consent: You can revoke your AI data consent at any time via Settings > AI Data Consent within the app. Once revoked, no further data will be sent to OpenAI, and AI-powered features will be disabled until consent is granted again.
Data Sharing
In addition to OpenAI (described above), we may share your information with:
- RevenueCat: Subscription and purchase management
- Mixpanel: Anonymized usage analytics to improve the app experience
- Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption of data in transit and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
